Sun Guangxin is a Chinese entrepreneur who has a net worth of $3 billion. Born in 1962, he is one of the richest people in China, who serves as Chairman and CEO of the Xinjiang Guanghui Industry Investment Group, a diversified company. A graduate of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences who also holds an MA degree, Guangxin started a seafood restaurant in Urumqi at the age of twenty-six. The restaurant was doing well, so Guangxin built up several modern entertainment centers, including swimming pool, karaoke bar, dance hall and bowling alley. In 1989, he founded a company called Guanghui Industry and Trade Co.
Ltd., which later was renamed the Xinjiang Guanghui Industry Group. The next year, Guanghui made a bold move buying two expensive oil pumps for an extraction project in Xinjiang, a land rich in oil reserves. Then, his company ventured into real estate business when he built an expensive office. Today, his Group is one of the most varied and successful companies in China.
