The family of murdered Cash App founder Bob Lee is suing his killer and the killer’s relatives, accusing them of attempting to destroy key evidence following the murder.
Lee, 43, was repeatedly stabbed by Nima Momeni near his home in San Francisco on April 4, 2023, and died hours later in hospital.
His family is suing Momeni as well as his mother, sister, brother-in-law and several property management companies, according to documents filed Friday in San Francisco Superior County Court.

The lawsuit claims Momeni’s relatives tried to sell the car that he picked Lee up in on the night of the murder, and then deleted information from their cell phones to conceal evidence.
It also accuses Portside Homeowners Association and Securitas Security Services of improperly releasing the disturbing security footage showing Lee’s final moments as he staggered down the street, bleeding.
“Bob’s two children, who were both minors at the time of his death, saw the video footage on news reports, and they were horrified at what they saw in the video,” the lawsuit states.
“The video footage they saw of their father, after he had been stabbed, traumatized them and have caused them significant emotional distress.”
Lee’s family is seeking unspecified damages for negligence, wrongful death, aiding and abetting, conspiracy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy.
“Bob was a devoted father to his two children,” the lawsuit says. “His untimely death robbed the world of a brilliant mind and a remarkable innovator in technology.”

Lee, who lived in Florida, was in San Francisco to see his children and watch his daughter’s school play.
Momeni had picked him up from an apartment building in his BMW Z4 Roaster and drove him to a secluded area before stabbing him with a kitchen knife he brought from his sister’s home.
Momeni stabbed Lee once in his hip and at least twice in the chest, puncturing his heart.
The killer tried — but failed — to claim he acted in self-defense. He is due to be sentenced in May and faces 16 years to life in prison.
