Hoops fever is about to break out in Tampa.
Starting Friday, April 4, the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four will descend upon the Amalie Arena to determine who will be crowned this year’s champion.
In the first semifinal match, Chloe Kitts’ reigning champion South Carolina Gamecocks face off against Madison Booker’s No. 1-seeded Texas Longhorns. This season, the SEC teams met three times; South Carolina won two of those contests. In the most recent showdown, Kitts scored an impressive 15 points and notched nine boards, which led to a commanding 64-45 victory.

Coming into the game, ESPN’s three analysts predict another South Carolina victory.
After the buzzer sounds on that bout, Lauren Betts’ UCLA Bruins take the hardwood with Paige Bueckers’ UConn Huskies. And, even though Geno Auriemma’s squad is the only No. 2-ranked squad to advance this far, they are favored here by two of ESPN’s trio of experts.
“Bueckers’ great play combined with a sense of urgency in her final season will be enough for the Huskies to win a close one,” Charlie Creme speculated.
However, as we all know, March Madness is all about upsets.
And, if you want to be there to see if the Final Four shakes out as expected or things go haywire, last-minute tickets are still available.
