WWE announced last week that it will be following the practice of the UFC and begin inducting “Immortal Moments” and matches into its Hall of Fame.
It will begin with Bret Hart and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s legendary no-disqualification submission match at WrestleMania 13 and the perfect double turn that truly launched the Texas Rattlesnake’s babyface superstardom.
The practice is sound as it highlights some of the all-time great clashes of the past for this and the next generation of fans. From a business standpoint, it creates a reason to bring stars who are already Hall of Famers back, much like inducting factions and teams or to honor someone who had a phenomenal moment but maybe not a Hall of Fame career.
